What % of homes listed for sale in Ottawa sell

4 Years ago over 60% of homes listed for sale would sell, today it’s less than 45%.  In the first half of 2013, 17,162 homes and condos were listed for sale and only 7654 sold, 44.6%.  Welcome to a balanced market where homes have to work in order to get sold.

First of all, more homes have been listed for sale in the first half of this year than any time in the last three.  6.8% more than 2012 (16,068), 18.6% more than 2011 (14,464) and 19.1% more than 2010 14,410.

On top of the fact that the market is leveling off and this year fewer homes have sold, we are seeing a large increase in the number of homes on the market.

This year 44.6% of listed homes sold, compared t0 50.1% in 2012, 53.7% in 2011 and 57.6% in 2010.

The status quo has changed and we’ve entered as some describe it a “beauty pageant market” which suddenly makes me wonder if there’s a reality show in the works some where to the tune of “beauty pageant home mommas” (if you’re a tv exec give me a ring we can make this happen!)
