During the month of January 2017, members of the Ottawa Real Estate Board sold 667 residential properties, compared to 598 in 2016, an increase of 11.5 in properties sold over the previous year.
It took an average of 109 days for a properties of all types to sell in Jan 2017 which is a day shorter than the average in Jan 2016 and 14 shorter than the month before, Dec 2016.
Of these 667 sales, 548 were freehold houses, and 119 were condominiums.
The average sales price for a freehold house sold in 2016, was $394,001 showing an increase of 1.9% over Jan 2016. While condominium average prices rose 16.8% from last year to $288,655.
1,656 new properties were listed for sale in January, bringing the total number of properties for sale to 4,836 a decrease of 14.0% from the January of last year.
