
During the month of January 2020, members of the Ottawa Real Estate Board sold 780 residential properties, compared to 817 in Dec 2018, a decrease of 4.5% in the number of properties sold vs the previous year.
It took an average of 50 days for properties of all types to sell in January 2020 which is 22 days shorter than the average in Jan 2019 and 6 days longer than the month before, Dec 2019.
Of these 780 sales, 558 were freehold houses, and 222 were condominiums.
The average sales price for a freehold house sold in January 2020, was $516,229 showing an increase of 19.3% over Jan 2019. While condominium average prices rose 19.1% from last year to $338,077.
(As January is typically the month with the lowest number of sales in a given year this price jump may not be representative of the whole market.)
1,082 new properties were listed for sale in January 2020, brining the total number of residential properties for sale to 1,670 a decrease of 41.7% from Jan of last year.
