Ottawa’s Real Estate Marketplace | October 2020 Edition

Last month, September 2020,  members of the Ottawa Real Estate Board sold 2,329 residential properties,  compared to 1,547 in September 2019, an increase of 50.5%  in the number of properties sold vs the previous year.

Year to date Jan-Sept we have had a -4.9% decline in total sales compared to Jan-Sept 2019


It took an average of 23 days for properties of all types to sell in September 2020 which is 18 days shorter than the average in September 2019 and the same as the month before, August 2020. 

 
Of these 2,329 sales, 1,759 were freehold houses, and 570 were condominiums which is our highest month of condo sales on record in the last 5 years

The average sales price for a freehold house sold in September 2020, was $622,557 showing an increase of 27.9% over September 2019.  While condominium average prices rose 20.5% from last year to $373,565.  

2,909 new properties were listed for sale in September 2020 which is a 35.1% increase compared to September 2019, bringing the total number of residential properties for sale to 2,033 a decrease of 39.6% from September of last year.
