What’s it like to live in Glabar Park with Bill Meyer

Hi, I’m Bill Meyer with The Tulip Team at RE/MAX and I’m here to tell you a little bit about one of my favourite neighbourhoods in the city of Ottawa, Glabar Park.

Glabar Park is situated between Maitland and Woodroffe, Carling and the Queensway.

https://www.thetulipteam.com/communities/glabar-park/

It’s made up of about 1100 homes that were built in the late 50s and early 60s. Most of these homes are single-family homes. You’ve got bungalows, two stories, split levels, large ranch-style bungalows with double car garages and they’re situated on lots that are 100 ft by 150 ft. And of course you’ve got some of your starter homes that are about 1100 or 1200 square foot bungalows that don’t have surface parking and they’re on lots of about 50 ft by about 100 ft.

What attracts families to this neighbourhood is all the amenities. Everything you need is within a few minute’s walk. We’ve got three parks in the area. We’ve got Lorry Greenberg Park, we tend to go there after work or after school, you’ll see dozens of kids and families with their dogs. It’s a wonderful dog park. Kingsmere Park is really the playground for the neighbourhood. You’ve got the play structure, the wading pool that city run in the summer, and of course the skating rink/hockey rink in the winter. Now as far as other amenities for your family. You’ve got Carlingwood Mall which is not too far, it has the newest and biggest Canadian Tire and Loblaws for all your grocery/shopping needs. Fairlawn Plaza across the way has your TD Bank, Colonnade Pizza, Bridgehead, you’ve got your beer store, and your liquor store so everything within walking distance.

There are churches and schools in the neighbourhood, you’ve got Woodroffe Public School and Woodroffe high school, you’ve got D. Roy Kennedy elementary. In addition to that, you’re not that far from any transit that you need. You’re only a minute or two from the Queensway to get anywhere in the city you want to go or as I say, just a short walk down to Carling or Woodridge and you can catch a city bus it’ll get you just about anywhere in the city.
